Privacy Policy
Effective October 23, 2026
Savenova is a personal finance app designed to keep your finances on your phone. You do not need an account, we do not show ads, and we never sell your data or use it for advertising. This policy explains what stays on your phone, the small amount of information that leaves it, and why.
1. What stays on your phone
Everything you enter, and everything Savenova records for you, is stored only on your device, except for the limited information described in section 3. Sensitive details, such as the text of bank messages, are encrypted. This includes:
- your income, categories, spending limits, saving plan, and balances;
- your transactions, wishes, savings, assets, Zakah, Amanat, and financial health answers;
- the name you choose to display in the app, and your app settings.
We do not have a copy of this data. It is not uploaded to our server, other than as described in section 3, and Savenova asks your phone to leave it out of iCloud and Google backups. If you delete the app or clear its data, your data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
If you lock the app with Face ID, Touch ID, or your fingerprint, the check is done by your phone's operating system. Savenova only learns whether it succeeded and never receives your face or fingerprint data.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no phone, app, network or server is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed, lost or altered. The security of your phone, its lock, and any copies, screenshots or exports you make are your responsibility, and we are not responsible for access to your data through your phone or through services we do not control. This includes a phone that is rooted or jailbroken, modified, out of date, infected with malicious software, or affected by a flaw in its own software or hardware: on such a phone, other software may be able to read what any app keeps on it, including Savenova.
Voice input. In Plan With Me you can tap the microphone to speak instead of typing. This is optional and asks for microphone permission the first time you use it. Your speech is turned into text by your phone's own speech recognition, on your device: Savenova requires on-device recognition and never sends your voice to us or to anyone else. Nothing you say is recorded or stored; only the text appears in the box, for you to edit or send.
2. Reading bank messages and payments
If you turn this feature on, Savenova can record transactions for you automatically:
- Android: with your permission, Savenova reads notifications only from the apps you select, such as your bank's app or your messaging app.
- iPhone: Savenova reads nothing on its own. A Shortcuts automation that you create sends it a bank message, or the amount and merchant of an Apple Pay payment.
Messages are processed on your phone, and only transactions are saved, also on your phone. The text of your messages is not sent to us, other than in a crash report as described in section 3, or as a redacted message format that you choose to share. You can stop this at any time by turning off notification access on Android or deleting the automation on iPhone.
3. What leaves your phone, and why
- Exchange rates. To convert between currencies, the app requests the latest rates from our server. The request includes only your base currency code.
- Asset prices. To show the current value of assets you track, such as stocks or gold, the app requests their prices from our server. Each request includes only the asset's symbol, or the text you type when searching for an asset. It never includes how much you hold.
- Message-reading updates. The app downloads updated rules for recognizing bank messages. No information about you is sent to receive them.
- Anonymous daily usage. Once a day, the app sends a summary of how it was used: how many times it was opened, how many transactions and wishes were added, which features were used, and your plan, platform, and app version. The summary contains no amounts, names, messages, or device identifiers.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes or encounters a serious error, a report is sent through Google Firebase Crashlytics so that we can fix the problem. The app does not add logs or personal details to these reports, and for errors in its own code it redacts the error message before sending, keeping only the type of error and where in the code it occurred. Crashlytics adds technical details, such as your device model, operating system, app version, and a random installation ID used to group crashes; this ID is not linked to your name or any account. Errors that originate in the phone's operating system or in third-party components may include their own short message, which we cannot redact before the report is sent. In rare cases, such a message could contain a fragment of what the app was processing at the time. Crash reports are used only to fix problems, are visible only to us, and are deleted by Crashlytics after 90 days.
- Feedback. If you use Send Feedback, we receive the type of feedback you select, the rating you give, and any message you write. Please do not include personal details.
- Shared message formats. If Savenova cannot read a bank message, you can choose to share its format so that the app can read similar messages for everyone. Before anything is sent, the app redacts the message on your phone, replacing amounts, numbers, and names with placeholders, and checks the result for personal details. Automatic redaction may not catch everything, so you are shown the redacted text and can edit it before sharing. Nothing is shared without your agreement.
- Device checks. When you share a message format, the app uses Google Play Integrity or Apple App Attest to confirm that the request comes from a genuine copy of Savenova. This helps prevent abuse and is not used to identify you.
We do not store IP addresses or use them to identify you; our server only holds them briefly in memory to limit abuse.
4. Subscriptions
Star is sold through Google Play and the App Store. Payments are handled entirely by Google or Apple, and we never see your card or payment details. Whether you have Star is checked on your phone with the store.
When a Star purchase is made, renewed, cancelled, refunded or fails to renew, Apple or Google also tells our server: the product, the price and currency, the country of your store account, and whether it was a test purchase. This does not include your name, email address, Apple or Google account, or anything that identifies your phone, so we cannot link it to you or to anything in the app. To tell the events of one subscription apart, we keep a scrambled version of the store’s purchase number that cannot be turned back into it. We use this only to understand how Star is doing.
5. Service providers
Our server runs with a cloud hosting provider, and crash reports are processed by Google Firebase Crashlytics. They process only the limited information described above, on our behalf. They may process it in countries other than your own, including the United States; where the law requires it, these transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards.
6. Why we use this information
We use the information described above only to provide the features you use, to keep the app working, secure and free of abuse, to improve how it reads bank messages, and to understand how Star subscriptions are doing. Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on providing the service you asked for, our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and secure, and your consent for optional features such as message reading and sharing message formats. You can withdraw consent at any time by turning the feature off.
7. How long we keep it
- Crash reports are deleted by Crashlytics after 90 days.
- Usage summaries contain nothing that identifies you or your phone.
- Feedback is deleted after 12 months.
- Subscription events contain nothing that identifies you and are kept for our financial records.
- Shared message formats are kept only as long as needed to improve message reading, and are then deleted.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete information about you, to object to or restrict how it is used, and to withdraw consent. Because almost everything stays on your phone, you control most of it directly in the app. For anything we have received, contact us and we will help. You may also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
9. Children
Savenova is not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age required where you live, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
10. Your choices, and deleting your data
- You can delete your data at any time by deleting the app or clearing its data.
- You can stop message reading by turning off notification access or deleting the Shortcuts automation.
- Sending feedback and sharing message formats are always optional.
Deleting your Savenova data. Savenova has no accounts, so there is nothing to sign in to or close.
- Data on your phone (income, balances, transactions, wishes, savings, assets, settings, and everything else you entered): delete the Savenova app, or clear its data in your phone's settings. It is deleted immediately and permanently, and cannot be recovered.
- Data you sent us (feedback and message formats you chose to share): open the app's side menu, tap Send Feedback, and ask us to delete it, describing what you sent and roughly when. Because none of it is linked to a name or account, we find it from your description. We delete it within 30 days.
Without a request, crash reports are deleted automatically after 90 days, feedback after 12 months, and shared message formats once they are no longer needed to improve message reading. The anonymous daily usage summaries contain nothing that identifies you or your phone, so they cannot be linked back to you; they are kept only as counts.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and its effective date.
12. Contact
If you have questions about this policy or your information, use Send Feedback in the app's side menu, or the contact details on Savenova's page in the App Store or Google Play.
